Sydney, November 19 - Joe O’Neill’s Prime Thoroughbreds have been enjoying a hot run of form in recent weeks adding another metropolitan success to the tally at Canterbury on Wednesday with Unique, an improving half-brother to multiple Group I winner Happy Trails.
A four year-old gelding by Henny Hughes (USA) prepared by Kris Lees, Unique was placed at his first two runs back from a spell before breaking through to win this 1550 metre contest by half a neck.
A $70,000 Magic Millions Adelaide purchase for Prime Thoroughbreds from the Mill Park draft, Unique has two wins and two placings from just 10 starts with prizemoney topping $54,000.
Unique is a half-brother to triple Group I winner and $2.8 million earner Happy Trails and stakes-placed Heart of a Lion being one of four winners from Madame Flurry a winning half-sister to stakes-winner Lake Villa.
Mill Park will offer the current yearling from Madame Flurry, a colt by Bernardini (USA) as Lot 412 at Magic Millions in January.
Prime Thoroughbreds will be seeking further success on the weekend with another Mill Park Magic Millions purchase in speedy filly Atalanta Miss, who is engaged to run in the $200,000 Magic Millions Clockwise Classic at Ballarat.
Snapped up for $55,000 from the Mill Park MM Adelaide draft, the Not a Single Doubt filly won brilliantly in Adelaide at her only start and has trialled well at Ballarat since then in preparation for this lucrative assignment.
Mill Park have a sensational draft of 10 youngsters catalogued for the 2015 Magic Millions and apart from the half-brother to Happy Trails will also offer: a half-brother by More Than Ready (USA) to Group I AJC Epsom Handicap winner Captain Sonador; a Sepoy filly from stakes-winner Celebrity Girl; a Redoute’s Choice colt from Group II winner Dances on Waves; and a half-sister to stakes-winner Moving Money.
