March 3 – Mill Park graduates scored a winning double at Balaklava on Sunday with smart maiden victories for two year-old gelding Jest for the Road and three year old gelding Strobes, both purchased from the Mill Park draft at the Magic Millions Adelaide Yearling Sale.
The Jon O’Connor trained Jest for the Road improved on his debut fifth at Morphettville in early February to win the 1050 metre maiden running away by a length and three-quarters.
Jest for the Road was a $52,500 purchase for Kim Harrison and is the first winner for smart metro winning Flying Spur mare Show Bling, a half-sister to stakes-winner Forest Spy and daughter of stakes-winner Super Snooper.
Also successful for the Phillip Stokes stable was Good Journey (USA) gelding Strobes, who cast off maiden status with a half-length win over 1400 metres as favourite.
He is the first winner for Hanukkah, a three-quarter sister-in-blood to stakes-winner Blessum from the family of four-time Group I winner Divine Madonna.
A $35,000 purchase for his trainer, Strobes provided a timely pedigree update for his yearling half-brother by Not a Single Doubt that will be offered by Mill Park as Lot 84 at this year’s Magic Millions Adelaide Yearling Sale.
