Impressive Debut Win For Cocoa Doll

Off the back of an impressive barrier trial performance in mid-August, three-year-old More Than Ready filly Cocoa Doll travelled to Morphettville Parks on Saturday to contest the Akeed Mofeed @Goldin Farms Maiden over 1000m.

Trained by Phillip Stokes and ridden by Dom Tourneur, the filly jumped straight to the lead and continued to extend throughout the race.

Travelling around the home turn many lengths ahead, it was always clear that the filly would win, but being her first race day start she tired late to take the race by a short head from Call Me Curtis, with four-and-a-half lengths back to the third placed Schizle.

Raised at Mill Park Stud, Cocoa Doll is the second foal, and second winner from the stakes placed Elusive Quality mare Elusive Wonder, herself a half-sister to the Listed winner Tantra, and to the dam of Listed winner Oak Park.

Withdrawn from the 2014 Inglis Easter Yearling Sale, Cocoa Doll was retained to race by here breeders and partners; ALAN Sheppard, MAX Basheer, W B Sanders, Ms HELEN Papas, Mill Park Stud (Mgr: PETER Watson) & Mills Breeding Syn (Mgr: TIM Mills) who look to have a very exciting filly on their hands!

Elusive Wonder had a Snitzel filly sell at this year’s Magic Millions Yearling Sale on the Gold Coast to Malua Bloodstock and Bahen Bloodstock for $175,000, and by all reports that filly is coming along extremely well.

The mare produced another filly by Snitzel last season and in late August this year produced a bay filly by Champion first season sire I Am Invincible and will head back to the same season again this season.
