Mill Park’s Race To Premier

As we head towards the running of Saturday’s $250,000 Restricted Listed Inglis Premier over 1200m at Caulfield, it is really pleasing for all at Mill Park to see that we are only farm with multiple graduates in the race.

Open to runners from the 2015 yearling sale, of the four yearlings we sold at the sale two will head to the lucrative race – a great achievement for all concerned.

Two-year-old colt Solo Lane (Wanted x Raja Lane) sold to Sun Bloodstock for $80,000 and off the back of a debut fourth in the race over 1100m in mid-January, the step up to the 1200m of Saturday’s race looks like it will suit.

Trained by Team Hawkes who are in great form after registering a stakes double last weekend with Headwater and Out Boy Malachi, Michael, Wayne and John Hawkes know what it takes to win the race, winning it in 2014 with Gold Force.

The second of the Mill Park graduates in the race is Gretna (Snitzel x Starts With A Kiss), one of only two fillies in the race, and will carry the ‘lucky’ number 13.

Purchased by Star Thoroughbreds for $150,000 last year, the Chris Waller-trained Gretna will be making her debut in the race, having been readied for the race with two Rosehill barrier trials, finishing third behind Vienna Waltz in December (with that filly coming out and winning), followed by a half head second to Sparkle just over a month ago.

We would like to take this opportunity to wish the connections of both Solo Lane and Gretna the best of luck for the race.

Mill Park has a good record at the Inglis Premier Yearling Sale, having sold Fawkner for $70,000, with the grey son of Reset going on to earn connections over $3.8 million from 11 career wins – three at Group 1 level.

In 2016 Mill Park will offer a draft of nine yearlings by sires including I Am Invincible, Hinchinbrook, Medaglia d’Oro and Written Tycoon, as well as offering a half-sister to Gretna.
