What a way to end Mill Park Stud’s 2019 Inglis Australian Easter yearling sale, with the lone filly in the draft – and what an exciting filly she is.
By Montjeu’s Group 1-winning son Tavistock, the sire of Group 1 winners Werther, Tarzino, Tavago and Volkstok’n’barrell, this filly is out of the winning Zabeel mare Elegant Eagle, a sister to the dam of Group 1 Caulfield Cup and Group 2 Makybe Diva Stakes (footage below) winner Southern Speed, herself also a Mill Park raised yearling graduate.
Elegant Eagle is the dam of four winners from five to the races highlighted by the Group 1 Champagne Stakes winner Go Indy Go (footage below), the Group 3 winner Essay Raider and the multiple stakes-placed Battle Brewing. Elegant Eagle has a filly by eight-time Group 1 winner American Pharoah on the ground.
A filly with great residual value already, imagine the value when she captures a stakes race – just look at Lot 434’s half-sister Go Indy Go as an example, her first foal sold for $1.5m at the 2018 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale!
From the family of Group 1 Golden Slipper winner and Champion Two and Three-year-old filly Ha Ha, this filly is bred on an exciting pedigree cross that has recorded 10 of Tavistock’s 39 stakes horses so far led by Hong Kong Horse of the Year and multiple Group 1 winner Werther and Group 1 VRC Derby and Group 1 Rosehill Guineas winner Tarzino.
Zabeel as a broodmare sire has a phenomenal record, producing 349 stakes horses so far highlighted by 38 Group 1 winners including Dundeel, Silent Achiever, Atlantic Jewel, Faint Perfume, Purple, as well as the close relation to this filly in Southern Speed.
